Flying

We’ve both been interested in airlines and aviation for decades, and flying’s in our blood.

Dan is a retired airline captain who, during his 32-year career, worked as a flight instructor and as a pilot for Air Midwest, Ameriflight, Ryan International, Northwest Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.

Sara enjoyed a five-year career in corporate communications at Northwest Airlines. She has her private pilot certificate. We used to own a Cessna 172 that we kept at Santa Monica, CA (SMO).

Commercial aviation enthusiasts Dan and Sara are regular attendees at Airliners InternationalTM, and Sara recently served from 2021-2026 on the World Airline Historical Society‘s board of directors. What do we collect? Airline annual reports and timetables, and a mish-mash of other things like safety cards, postcards, glassware, stickers, models, and wings. We have a complete set of nothing with a little bit of everything.

We love airline travel. Of course, the “forward cabin” is a wonderful place to sit, but we’re really happy just being above the clouds. We can’t say our favorite place to sit is a middle seat in coach, but any flight we are on is a good one!

We love flying! And yes, we are “shade open” people! How can you not be amazed when looking down at the Earth from 35,000 feet?
